Second chance for debtors: subsidies at risk due to non-payment of utility bills

Citizens who were previously denied housing subsidies due to utility debt or lack of income may reapply for subsidies during the heating season.

The Pension Fund reported this, noting that reapplying provides an opportunity to receive a subsidy even for those who did not apply for assistance during the summer period.

To receive a subsidy, you must personally visit a Pension Fund service center, submit an application by mail, or use the fund’s electronic services. It is also possible to apply through authorized representatives of local government bodies.

The key is to comply with the application deadlines. If the application is submitted during the first two months of the heating season, the subsidy will be accrued from October 2025. In case of a later application, the payment will be assigned from the month the documents are submitted.

Before reapplying, ensure the household has no overdue utility bills. If it is not possible to repay the debt in full, the Pension Fund recommends concluding a restructuring agreement with the service provider. This will allow you to restore the right to receive a subsidy and repay the debt in installments over an agreed period.
