Yellow level of danger due to fog and snow from November 21 to 23 – State Emergency Service

The State Emergency Service announced a yellow level of danger due to fog in the night and morning hours of November 21 and warns of significant deterioration in the weather on November 22-23 in the western regions of Ukraine: snow, sleet, ice, and strong winds are expected in the Carpathians. Rescuers advise avoiding long trips and checking cars for serviceability before leaving.

The State Emergency Service (DSNS) warns of dangerous weather conditions that will begin with fog during the night and morning of November 21, when visibility will drop to 200-500 meters. This confirms the yellow level of danger. In the western regions on November 22-23, moderate snow is forecast, with snow cover 5 to 15 cm deep in some places. In the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, snow may reach 20-30 cm, the department reports. Wet snow and sleet increase the risk of power line damage and complicate utility service work. There is also a possibility of ice formation on the roads.

In the Carpathians, in addition to snow, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s and blizzards are expected, which may complicate road conditions.

The State Emergency Service recommends checking the serviceability of cars and avoiding long trips in such weather conditions.

“Be careful, plan your routes according to the weather forecast, and follow the safety rules!” – the service notes.

The State Emergency Service emphasizes citizens’ responsibility, calling on them to monitor forecast updates and official reports from local authorities.

These warnings come against the background of the recent sharp cold snap in Ukraine, during which forecasters predicted a drop in temperatures and the onset of precipitation in the form of rain and sleet.
