The court hearing in the case of the former head of the Vinnytsia Oblast Traffic Police Igor Alekseev has been suspended again
The trial of the former head of the Vinnytsia Region Highway Service, Igor Alekseev, has been suspended again. This happened due to his mobilization, as reported by Antikor. Alekseev was accused of attempting to bribe Governor Serhiy Borzov for UAH 4.2 million. He was detained while transferring the first installment of a UAH 200,000 bribe in 2021. He is currently serving as the commander of the “road platoon.
As a reminder, in 2020, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court released Alekseev on bail. The lawyer filed a motion for his release, as the bail had been paid in full. NABU detectives did not object, and the court decided to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of paying bail for UAH 3,933,800. The funds were transferred to the court account, and Alekseev was dismissed right in the courtroom.
Alekseev was dismissed from his position in October 2016 for systematic failure to perform his duties. It is known that under his leadership, there were cases of economy in road construction: poor-quality pavement was laid, work areas were not equipped, and traffic patterns were not coordinated. However, lawyers found that the order dismissing him was illegal. He appealed this decision in court, won in the first instance, and on February 22, 2017, the Vinnytsia Court of Appeal declared his dismissal illegal and ordered his reinstatement.
