Will tariffs for Ukrainians increase from January 1?

Today, information began to spread across several Telegram channels about a possible increase in gas transportation tariffs for Ukrainians from January 1, 2025, by almost 4 times. Allegedly, the tariff will increase from 124 hryvnias to over 500 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters.

However, this information is false. No new increase in the gas transportation tariff is planned from the beginning of the new year.

In fact, the tariff of 501.97 hryvnias per thousand cubic meters was approved by the National Commission for Regulating Energy and Utilities last year.

So, this is not a new price increase but the implementation of a tariff previously established within the framework of the planned tariff policy.

Gas transportation costs are a separate component of payments that do not directly affect the price of gas itself. Consumers pay these costs separately, and they depend on consumption volume.

It is worth noting that there was a lower tariff before, but that does not mean there has been a new significant price increase. This is an adaptation of the previously approved cost that takes into account the financial needs of gas transmission network operators.

For consumers, this means that there will be no new unexpected amounts in payments. The cost of transportation, which will take effect from January 1, 2026, has been known for some time and remains valid in accordance with the National Commission’s decision.

It is therefore essential that, according to the State Statistics Service, in October 2025, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.2% compared to October 2024. The most noticeable increase was recorded for eggs, by 18.1%, and vegetables, by 18.2%. The price of greenhouse tomatoes reached 90–100 UAH per kilogram, and cucumbers rose to 110 UAH per kilogram. In addition, prices for carrots, beets, meat, and dairy products have increased.
