Ukraine will update its holiday calendar
Ukraine plans to update its holiday calendar, as there are currently unfortunate coincidences of solemn days with the dates of tragedies.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this information during his evening address.
He noted that he had instructed the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, together with deputies, government officials, and representatives of civil society, to develop proposals for new approaches to holidays.
“Today, during a conversation with Ruslan, we discussed the need for new and logical approaches to holidays and special days in our calendar,” Zelensky said.
The President added that the war significantly influenced the formation of unfortunate calendar coincidences.
“This happens when the dates of tragedies coincide with professional holidays. Or when several completely different professional holidays are celebrated on the same day, left over from Soviet times and the first years of independence. This needs to be regulated,” he emphasized.
It was also noted that frosty weather and possible snow are expected in Ukraine on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
