Ukraine increases fines for drivers to 34,000 per trip

During inspection activities in the Lviv region, illegal passenger transportation was discovered. As reported by the State Supervision Department, the Volkswagen car that was stopped provided transport services without an appropriate license. Based on the inspection results, an administrative report was prepared against the driver.

The department notes that significant financial penalties are provided for illegal transportation of passengers. The fine can vary from 17 to 34 thousand hryvnias. Such sanctions are applied to persons who transport goods without the required permits and who violate transport legislation.

The State Supervision Department emphasizes that the activities of illegal carriers create numerous risks for passengers. This applies in particular to the lack of tax contributions to the budget, the use of drivers without appropriate training, and the unreliability of service safety and quality. In such cases, passengers are left without legal protection in the event of emergencies or violations of transportation conditions.

Citizens are advised to verify the carrier’s legality before traveling. This can be done online using the car’s license plate number or VIN code. The relevant information is available in open registers. The agency emphasizes that such a check takes a little time but helps you avoid potential problems.

The issue of combating illegal transportation also attracts the attention of legislators. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is considering draft law No. 11025, which increases liability for unlawful activities in the field of passenger transportation to strengthen control and impose stricter conditions on violators.
