Ukrainians stopped being informed about power outage queues: energy experts explained the reason

Recently, Ukrainians have noticed that Ukrenergo has stopped publishing information on the volume of electricity consumption restrictions and the number of disconnection queues. The president of the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”, an expert on international energy and security relations, Mykhailo Honchar, explained the reasons for these changes.

According to Honchar, the energy system should be analyzed comprehensively. Although Ukrenergo is the operator of Ukraine’s unified energy system, the actual electricity situation varies significantly by region. In some areas, the problem is complex, while in others it is more stable.

The expert noted that serious problems with electricity supply are observed in the Odessa and Poltava regions. At the same time, the western areas have a completely different situation. As for Kyiv, it also belongs to the energy-deficient cities, although the situation can change quickly.

Mykhailo Honchar emphasized that in many respects, things now depend not on Ukrenergo, but on regional operators, who are directly responsible for schedules and restrictions on energy supply. Therefore, consumers should refer to the information provided by regional energy companies, as they are the ones who contact the public and provide up-to-date outage data.

The expert added that the current actions of both Ukrenergo and regional operators are aimed at optimizing the operation of the energy system during a crisis. This is due to the consequences of attacks on energy infrastructure and the need to prepare for possible new threats. In these circumstances, system management requires rapid adaptation and decision-making in response to changes in regional situations.
