The Cabinet of Ministers promised to increase salaries for the specified categories of employees

Starting in 2026, Ukraine plans to raise the minimum wage by 5%. The government has also decided to increase salaries for social workers, affecting about 80,000 specialists in social and rehabilitation services. The Ministry of Social Policy provided this information.

Changes in the minimum wage and living wage

The minimum wage will increase next year from 8,000 to 8,647 hryvnias. The general living wage will also be increased – from approximately 3,065 to 3,209 hryvnias.

Increase in salaries for social workers

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to increase salaries on December 26, and it will take effect on January 1, 2026. Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Ulyutin noted that this is a step towards greater fairness in the remuneration of those who help others every day.

A coefficient of 2.5 will be applied when calculating salaries, resulting in an approximate 150% increase. Here are some new salaries:

Social manager (15th tariff category) – UAH 20,607 instead of UAH 8,243;
Social work specialist (12th tariff category) – UAH 16,932 instead of UAH 6,773;
Junior nurse (4th tariff category) – UAH 10,145 instead of UAH 4,058.
Pension indexation

Pension indexation is planned for March 2026. The state budget allocates UAH 251.3 billion for payments to 10.3 million pensioners, of which part will be directed to increasing pensions. However, not all pensioners will receive larger amounts, as the changes will be selective.

Earlier, there was a discussion about which Ukrainians would be able to receive payments of 23 thousand hryvnias. It was also announced that a new state support program for people aged 40 and over would be launched. In addition, Ukrainians were warned about a new strain of influenza.
