The State Bureau of Investigation stopped interregional drug trafficking in the Donetsk region: about 300 doses did not reach consumers

In the Donetsk region, law enforcement officers have disrupted the activities of an interregional drug trafficking network. According to preliminary information, in two months, criminals sold hundreds of doses of prohibited substances, expanding the boundaries of their illegal business.

The State Bureau of Investigation is actively combating drug trafficking in Ukraine, as this is an essential aspect in ensuring public safety and reducing the level of crime.

SBI officers under the supervision of the Security Service of Ukraine have declared suspicion of two individuals who organized the sale of drugs in Donetsk and Kyiv regions. The perpetrators even aimed to involve military personnel in their activities.

The investigation found that the criminal scheme was created by two people previously convicted of drug crimes who met while serving their sentences. After their release, they joined forces to conduct illegal business.

One of the suspects, who lived in the Donetsk region, independently grew cannabis and manufactured drugs. His partner from the Kyiv region was responsible for the logistics, sending mail with empty containers, which were later returned already filled with drugs.

The sale of prohibited substances was carried out directly, and the defendants planned to expand their activities to the Dnipropetrovsk region. They transferred the money received from illegal sales to each other’s bank cards.

During authorized searches of the suspects’ residences, narcotic substances, mobile phones, bank cards, cash, as well as devices for drug use and other evidence of criminal activity, including ammunition, were seized.

According to preliminary data, in just two months, the criminals sold about 300 doses of drugs with a total weight of almost 3 kilograms, increasing production volumes.

One of the suspects is charged with illegal production, purchase, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs, committed repeatedly, as well as illegal possession and sale of explosives without proper permission.

The second suspect is charged with illegal purchase, storage, and sale of narcotic drugs, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons.

The sanctions provided for under the relevant articles may include imprisonment for up to 10 years, with the possibility of property confiscation. The court chose a preventive measure of detention, with bail available for both suspects.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office is responsible for procedural management in this case.

In addition, a 40-year-old Israeli was found in Kyiv, suspected of selling narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in large quantities, which he stored at home, decorating the New Year tree with them.
