Former director of Brovary municipal enterprise suspected of causing more than UAH 1.2 million in losses to the budget due to overpayment for electricity

In Brovary, the former head of a municipal enterprise is suspected of abuse of office. In particular, he concluded several additional agreements that unjustifiably increased electricity prices and caused significant losses to the city budget.

According to law enforcement officers, during the pre-trial investigation, it was determined that in 2020, while serving as the director of the municipal enterprise, the official signed several additional agreements to the main contract for the supply of electricity. The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this.

As a result of these actions, the electricity tariff for 1 kW/h increased by 28.87% without proper justification.

According to the investigation, such decisions led to losses of 1,212,708 hryvnias to the Brovary City Council budget.

The former manager is charged with Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of official position, which caused serious consequences.

It is known that under the procedural leadership of the Brovary District Prosecutor’s Office, suspicion has already been raised against the former director of the Brovary-Blagoustriy enterprise.

As part of the criminal proceedings, the prosecutor’s office filed a motion with the court requesting the imposition of a preventive measure in the form of bail for 1,211,392 hryvnias. The issue of imposing an arrest on the suspect’s property has also been raised.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers continue to clarify all the details of this case.

In addition, a case was recorded when an employee of Chernivtsi Infrastructure overpaid millions to a contractor. After the work was completed, the contractor was supposed to return the materials to the state or pay for their cost, but instead, they were registered as scrap metal, and the actual costs remained unpaid.
