Forecasters announced when heat is expected in Ukraine

Cold weather in Ukraine is still lingering, but warming is expected to begin on January 22. Natalia Ptukha, the weather forecaster at the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, reported this. The most severe frosts are observed in the north and northeast, but the situation will change soon.

According to Natalia Ptukha, the weather in Ukraine is currently affected by a winter anticyclone that has moved in from the northeast. This contributes to clear skies, a lack of precipitation, and severe frosts.

The lowest temperatures are observed at night in the north of the country, where, in some regions, thermometers drop to -22…-25 degrees. The daytime temperature in the north ranges from -6 to 11°C, and in other parts, from -3 to 8°C.

Ptukha emphasized that no significant changes are expected in the coming days. The anticyclone will continue to maintain frosty weather until January 22.

Changes in the atmosphere will begin on January 23, when forecasters predict a weakening of frosts across Ukraine. Night temperatures, which currently range from -17…-20°C, will drop to -5…-11°C. During the day, the air will warm up to -1…-7°C.

Residents of Transcarpathia and the southern regions will notice warming the fastest, with daytime temperatures rising to +1… +3 °C after January 23.

“This is not real warmth yet, but it will be more comfortable,” said Natalia Ptukha.

However, forecasters warn that most regions of Ukraine will still be under the influence of sub-zero temperatures, although less intensely. It is too early to talk about stable “plus” heat.
