New child benefits: who can receive 10,500 hryvnias in 2026

On January 1, 2026, a new program to support families with infants was introduced in Ukraine: a monthly childcare allowance.

This allowance will be an important financial support for parents during the first year of their child’s life. This is a new social support that will be paid from the moment the child is born until the child reaches age 1. The basic allowance will be 7,000 hryvnias. For families with children with disabilities, an increased allowance of 10,500 hryvnias has been approved, thanks to a 1.5 coefficient.

This measure is enshrined in a law adopted on November 5, 2025, which aims to strengthen support for families and facilitate the combination of childcare with professional activities. Roughly speaking, the state is updating the system of financial assistance for families from the moment of pregnancy through the child’s first year of school.

The allowance will be provided from the day after the end of maternity leave. To receive the payment, you must contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine and provide a package of documents, including an identity card, a birth certificate for the baby, a birth certificate (if available), and a medical certificate of temporary incapacity for work related to pregnancy and childbirth. If the application is submitted by someone other than the child’s mother, it is necessary to confirm the legal representative’s authority.
