The People’s Deputy commented on the work of the new director of BEB Tsyvinsky: there are no results, the situation on the tobacco market is deteriorating
In a recent interview, MP Danylo Getmantsev said that, following the leadership change at the Bureau of Economic Security, the agency’s results remain unsatisfactory.
Getmantsev, who heads the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, noted that the problem of illegal trade in electronics remains relevant, that the situation on the tobacco market is deteriorating, and that controversial individuals work in the Bureau.
“It is quite possible to say that we do not see results. However, there are still certain odious figures in the agency whose activities are associated with corruption scandals, such as the head of the Odessa BEB. Neglecting personnel issues for six months requires explanations,” he said.
In his opinion, insufficient attention is paid to the problems of the electronics and tobacco markets, and investigations into tax offenses are proceeding much more slowly than expected.
“We still do not see significant results. The same issue with illegal trade in electronics and the situation on the tobacco market is only getting worse. Investigations into tax abuses are also not progressing as quickly as we had hoped,” Getmantsev emphasized, expressing hope that the BEB will be able to stop offenses in these areas.
He also noted that it will take another six months to restart the body, but this should not interfere with the consideration of criminal cases that have already been initiated.
Earlier, the head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy had already called on the BEB to act more actively and complete essential investigations.
1+1 TV channel journalist Yevhen Plinsky also pointed out the inability of the Bureau of Economic Security to counteract “scheme” business.
Closing tax evasion schemes is a requirement of the International Monetary Fund, and the BEB must fight this. However, with the appointment of a new director, the results of its work have deteriorated. In particular, the amount of compensation in criminal proceedings has halved, and the market share of illegal cigarettes has reached a historical maximum of 17.8%. As a result of the unlawful sale of Apple products, the country’s budget loses 10-15 billion UAH annually.
