Russia may strike during severe frosts: Ukrainians urged to prepare
In Ukraine, all relevant services, including the State Emergency Service and the Armed Forces, are actively preparing for the cold weather in connection with possible new attacks from Russia. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba in one of his interviews.
According to Kuleba, severe weather conditions significantly affect the operation of the country’s energy system, especially during shelling. Frosts that can reach -20°C create additional difficulties. Still, the support of international partners and the effective work of air defense forces allow us to ensure the stability of the energy supply.
“This is another challenge for us as a people, but I am confident that we will be able to overcome it. Although it will not be easy, this winter demonstrates that we are not alone,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
He also emphasized that the most difficult situation is currently in Kyiv and the surrounding regions, while with the warming of the air, a decrease in electricity consumption is expected, which creates new opportunities for planning supply schedules. Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine receives support from European countries and the United States, and also recalled Italy’s long-term assistance, which exceeds 100 million euros for the restoration of Odesa.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously also warned about Russia’s preparations for new missile attacks, emphasizing that Ukrainian intelligence is effectively fulfilling its tasks, promptly providing important information.
In addition, the Ministry of Economy called on retail chains to ensure the constant operation of individual supermarkets in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv. It was also reported that a total blackout in Ukraine was possible, which caused concern among experts. Oschadbank warned of new restrictions that may affect cards earlier than scheduled.
