Polish military discovers Belarusian balloons on its territory
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reports the detection of objects resembling balloons that flew from the territory of Belarus on the night of January 31 to February 1. Military radar systems tracked these flights, however, according to initial data, they did not pose a threat to the security of Polish airspace.
During night observations, a series of flights of unidentified objects were recorded. The Operational Command noted that the movement of these objects was monitored by radar systems, which allowed assessing the potential risk.
The command’s statement emphasizes that “the Belarusian side once again tried to check the reaction of Polish air defense systems,” which detected objects invading Polish airspace. However, these flights, according to the military, did not pose any threat, and the Armed Forces are ready to quickly respond to possible changes in the situation.
The Polish military and security services continue to monitor the objects, analyzing their trajectories, altitudes and speeds in detail for final identification. Information on such incidents is shared between relevant agencies for rapid response in the event of escalation.
This case comes against the backdrop of heightened attention to the situation on the borders of Europe and frequent detections of unidentified objects, raising questions about their origin.
