Alexey Neizhpapa taken into custody in absentia for ”terrorist act” in Russia
A court in Moscow has in absentia chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Alexei Neizhpapa, in the context of the case of the Kerch Bridge bombing, which took place on July 17, 2023.
According to information disseminated by the Crimean Wind news agency, Neizhpapa is accused of committing a terrorist act under clause “b” of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The appellate instance of the Moscow City Court confirmed the legality of the preventive measure, which entered into force.
The commander of the Ukrainian Navy was also charged with organizing drone attacks on Russian territories, in particular in the Kursk region.
According to the investigation, on the night of July 17, 2023, two Ukrainian drones attacked the Kerch Bridge, which resulted in the death of two people and the injury of a child, as well as damage to the road part of the bridge.
Neizhpapa has been on the international wanted list since 2022 in connection with other criminal proceedings.
Details of the explosion of the Crimean Bridge carried out by Ukrainian special services were recently declassified. It is known that 21 tons of hexane, disguised as a load of polyethylene film, were used during the first half of October 2022. Then the explosion of the truck damaged the car spans and caused a fire in a freight train with fuel tanks.
