The number of patrols was urgently increased in Kyiv: what are the reasons?
In the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, police patrols have increased by 30%, with more than 1,200 law enforcement officers on duty on the streets every day. They are responsible for maintaining order, assisting with evacuations, guarding “Invincibility Points,” and informing citizens of places to warm up. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
“More than 1,200 police officers go on duty every day, which is about 450 patrols, which work in an enhanced mode together with the State Emergency Service,” he noted.
According to the minister, law enforcement officers are supervising key critical infrastructure facilities, sites for liquidation of the consequences of Russian attacks, and heating points. The State Emergency Service is also organizing mobile heating points and pneumatic tents in the courtyards of high-rise buildings and providing generators to hospitals and other important facilities. He added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is forced to carry out new tasks to support cities.
“Millions of people are freezing – we need to act,” Klymenko emphasized.
The minister also emphasized that providing heating points with the necessary resources, such as tea, disposable tableware, and sugar, is the responsibility of local authorities. “Is this done? Not always. The State Emergency Service does not have the right to allocate funding for this, so sometimes we have to seek help from international partners,” he added.
Klymenko reported that, even though it is no longer possible to strengthen measures, the enemy’s aggression requires the mobilization of all resources. “Now all efforts are maximally involved, although we still maintain reserves,” the minister concluded.
In addition, he noted that similar problems are also experienced in Kharkiv, Odesa, and the border regions.
