Who is not subject to mobilization after the age of 50 in February 2026

Martial law in Ukraine and general mobilization have been extended until May 4, 2026. During this time, men aged 18 to 60 can be called up for military service.

Men over 50 are also subject to mobilization, but there are certain nuances in this age segment. According to Ukrainian law, men over 50 can be called up on general grounds, but certain conditions may exempt them from mobilization.

For example, men who have documented unfitness or limited fitness for military service are not subject to conscription.

In addition, employees with an official reservation are not subject to mobilization; this applies to specialists working in enterprises and organizations that meet the critical needs of the economy or defense.

The law also sets the age limit for military service at 60 years. Men who have reached this age cannot be mobilized but can serve voluntarily.

Those who wish to join the armed forces after the age of 60 are offered a one-year contract, subject to passing a medical examination and meeting the requirements.

Thus, in February 2026, only those citizens over the age of 50 who do not have legal grounds for dismissal or deferment will be subject to conscription. Others can remain in the reserve or voluntarily join the army.

The President is expected to sign bills extending martial law and mobilization until May 4, 2026.
