Метро призупинено: у Києві та Харкові проблеми з електропостачанням зупинили підземку

Metro suspended: power supply problems halted the subway in Kyiv and Kharkiv

In Kyiv, the metro has been suspended due to a power outage. The Kyiv City State Administration announced this.

“Due to a power outage from external sources, train traffic and escalators in the metro have been temporarily suspended. We will provide additional information on the resumption of work,” the Kyiv City State Administration noted.

A similar situation has developed in Kharkiv, where the metro has also stopped functioning due to a power outage.

These problems are caused by regular power outages resulting from massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Lack of capacity and damage to power grids lead to frequent power outages, including at critical facilities.

The metro, which usually operates even in difficult conditions, was unable to withstand the load today, further indicating problems in the country’s energy system.

Passengers are urged to remain calm, follow official messages, and, if possible, use ground transport. The authorities promise to announce the resumption of metro operations as soon as the power supply stabilizes.

There are 52 stations in the Kyiv metro, of which only 32 meet the requirements of civil defense shelters. The others either lack sufficient depth or are classified as simple shelters that do not provide sufficient safety during shelling.
