Winter will not retreat: pig spleen predicted frosts, blizzards and late spring, synoptic forecast

Next spring looks less likely than you might have expected. Arvo Seidla, a folk forecaster from Estonia’s Raplamaa, claims that winter will be here for a very long time.

His predictions note that spring is not trying to appear on the horizon, and winter still has the strength to stay. This is confirmed by the coincidence in the forecasts, as he usually observes “natural markers” that, in this case, showed unanimity.

Seidla usually conducts research in great detail, noting how different parts of a pig’s spleen respond to changes. This time, all four samples yielded identical results, making his predictions more reliable.

Recently, after a medical procedure, the legendary forester has returned to his job: reading the weather from pig spleens. His methods, although they sound unusual, have a certain logic and scientific approach. He analyzes the width of the spleen during the winter months and finds that the widest part will fall in January and February, which predicts cold and snowfall.

Seidla explains that January and February are expected to bring significant snowfall and cold weather. The first days of February will be truly wintry with blizzards, and winter is not going to leave.

However, some thaw is expected during Maslenitsa, which falls on February 16. But, using folk wisdom, it is worth being careful – if it is warm on Maslenitsa, it means that winter is “taking a break” only to strike again.

February, as the shortest month, has always been marked by blizzards and heavy snow, and this year, according to signs, it meets all expectations. As for spring, Seidla does not promise its quick arrival. March will have a winter character, and the real changes will begin only towards the end of the month, but spring is still not very patient.

It is expected that cold weather will return in early April, confirming the pattern of long winters in nature. So, spring, like a girl, will make us wait a long time.
