Slovenia provides 500 thousand euros to support Ukraine’s energy sector
The Slovenian government has decided to allocate 500,000 euros to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure through the Energy Support Fund, which operates within the Energy Community. This contribution aims to restore facilities destroyed or severely damaged by Russian attacks.
This decision was made at a government meeting, as reported by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The allocated funds will be provided to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, which collects international assistance for the urgent repair and restoration of damaged energy systems. This restoration concerns those facilities that have been destroyed as a result of enemy shelling.
The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes the importance of supporting Ukraine in the energy sector as a key aspect of overall assistance to the country resisting large-scale aggression.
It is noted that on January 21, Ukrainian Ambassador to Slovenia Petro Beshta sent a letter to Prime Minister Robert Golob and Finance Minister Klemen Bostančič, in which he described the critical situation in Ukraine’s energy system and called for a financial contribution to a special fund.
This decision is another step in Slovenia’s support for Ukraine’s energy independence.
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression, Slovenia has provided Ukraine with about 61 million euros in humanitarian and development assistance.
