By April 1, you must fulfill the conditions for continuing to receive your pension

In 2026, payments to some Ukrainian pensioners were suspended. This primarily concerns those who live in temporarily occupied territories or have left them for territories under Ukrainian control or abroad.

At a briefing, Minister of Social Policy Denys Ulyutin explained the reasons for this decision and the procedure for resuming payments. In particular, payments are suspended for pensioners who have not undergone mandatory physical identification and have not submitted a declaration of non-receipt of pensions or other payments from the Russian Federation.

This decision applies to three categories of citizens:

– those who receive a pension in the temporarily occupied territories;

– those who have left the occupied territories for the territory controlled by Ukraine;

– those who have left the occupied regions and are outside Ukraine.

The Minister recalled that the physical identification procedure has been in effect since 2016. During the COVID-19 quarantine, it was temporarily suspended, but in 2024, it was legally restored. During 2025, citizens were supposed to undergo identification and submit the relevant declarations.

According to the Ministry of Social Policy, these requirements apply to about a million people. As of January 1, 2026, approximately 70,000 pensioners had not submitted a declaration, and about 260,000 had not undergone physical identification.

The government decided to extend the deadlines for fulfilling these requirements, taking into account the difficult situation at the beginning of 2026, in particular, power outages and communication problems. Now, those who have already undergone physical identification but have not submitted a declaration can do so until April 1, 2026.

The declaration can be submitted in any form in several ways: through a personal account on the Pension Fund portal or in person at the PFU service center by submitting a written application.

The Ministry of Social Policy emphasizes that pensions have not been canceled, but only temporarily suspended. After completing the necessary procedures, payments will be resumed in full.
