Changes are expected soon: when will the duration of power outages in Kyiv be reduced?
According to forecasts, Kyiv will be able to return to stable and understandable electricity supply schedules in about one to two weeks. Such an approach is possible only if there are no new serious attacks on the energy infrastructure, as noted by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center.
He explained that the exact timing of the restoration is difficult to predict. Still, if there are no additional large-scale attacks, the city will be able to transition to a stable power supply regime.
Currently, Kyiv actually depends on electricity supplies from other regions via high-voltage lines, so any new strikes on the infrastructure can significantly affect the situation. The next three weeks of winter may become particularly difficult for the energy system due to a drop in temperature. Ukrainian residents should prepare in advance for possible power outages.
In particular, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Andriy Gerus, noted that at the moment, Russia does not show any desire for any negotiations or an “energy truce”, so one should not hope for external agreements.
