In Ukraine, there is a rapid spread of the deadly flu, there are not enough places for the sick to be hospitalized
In Ukraine, a critically difficult flu epidemic season is observed: hospitals and intensive care units are overcrowded, and there is often simply nowhere to hospitalize patients. Infectious disease expert Olga Golubovska noted this in an interview with a Ukrainian channel.
According to her, this epidemic was expected to be very complicated. The H3N2 influenza virus, which is now actively spreading, has undergone significant mutations – there are at least seven of them.
The vaccine was practically ineffective. People get seriously sick and for a long time, from two to four weeks, while there is often an overlap of other viral infections or exacerbation of existing chronic diseases.
The doctor emphasizes that the flu can cause rapid, irreversible changes in the lungs as early as the third day of the illness. This causes the rapid death of patients – by the fifth day, lung tissue can be critically affected. Among the warning symptoms, she singles out a high temperature and severe pain in the chest, and the pain can appear even earlier than the temperature.
Golubovska also warns against uncontrolled use of antipyretics, especially paracetamol, due to their potentially toxic effect on the liver. The most important thing is to consult a doctor immediately upon the first symptoms, without delaying the visit.
