A reduced pension is possible in the future: what should be checked today

Experts urge Ukrainians not to delay checking their pension data. Errors or omissions in accounting may result in reduced payments in the future.

Experts warn that inaccuracies in work experience, gaps in data for certain periods of activity, or incorrect records of contributions to the Social Insurance Institution can affect future pension payments.

Not infrequently, such problems arise from imperfect reporting by employers in past years — some did not submit data to the Pension Fund at all. Many people only find out about this when they apply for a pension, which can delay the correction process. Those most at risk are those who worked in the 1990s and early 2000s, when digital registries were not yet reliable.

Experts advise logging in to your personal account on the Pension Fund portal and checking whether all jobs are displayed, whether the correct amounts of paid social security contributions are indicated, and whether there are no gaps in experience. It is also recommended to check the data against the entries in the workbook.

If discrepancies are found, you should immediately contact the relevant department of the fund or your former employer to clarify the information. Regularly checking your details is important to prevent future financial losses and to ensure adequate pension benefits.
