Pension recalculation for Chernobyl survivors: what payments are planned for March

From March 1, 2026, it is planned to recalculate minimum pensions for disabled people who suffered as a result of the Chornobyl accident.

The size of the new pensions will depend on the average salary in the country last year. According to information from the Pension Fund of Ukraine, by the end of 2025, the average salary will be 20,653.55 hryvnia, which will serve as the basis for new minimum guarantees.

Representatives of the Main Department of the Pension Fund in Mykolaiv region confirmed that minimum pension payments will be guaranteed for Chornobyl liquidators who were disabled as a result of the disaster.

The amounts of payments will include allowances, planned indexation, and other additional payments. However, pensions for special services to the country are not taken into account.

From the beginning of spring, persons with disabilities in group I will receive at least 20,653.55 hryvnias, which is 100% of the average salary, while for group II it will be 80% – 16,522.84 hryvnias, and for group III – 60%- 12,392.13 hryvnias.

Pensions will be recalculated automatically, without the need for additional application, if all the necessary documents are already in the pension file.

It was previously reported that several additional payments and allowances for pensioners were increased, potentially raising their income to 2,600 hryvnias per month. The minimum pension is planned at 9,000 hryvnias, but this will not apply to all categories of pensioners.
