Prices have risen sharply in Ukraine: the State Statistics Service has identified the leaders of the increase in prices

In February 2026, the consumer price index in Ukraine increased by 1% compared to January, and annual inflation was 7.6%. Core inflation, which excludes the most volatile goods, reached 0.7% for the month and 7% for the year. The prices of vegetables and mobile communication services increased the most, while clothing, footwear, and train tickets became cheaper.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, consumer prices jumped by 1% in February and increased by 7.6% year-on-year. Core inflation remained at 0.7% for the month and 7% for the year.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased in price by 1.4%. The largest price increase was recorded for vegetables (13%), as well as for fruits, processed cereals, eggs, fish products, bread, pasta, oil, milk, and soft drinks (growth of 0.4–6.1%).

The communications sector saw a 5.2% price increase, with mobile communications rising by 9.1%. Transport prices also rose by 1.4%, mainly due to a 3.3% increase in fuel and lubricant costs. Alcoholic and tobacco products increased in price by 1.2%, with tobacco rising by 1.6%.

At the same time, some categories of goods became cheaper. Prices for clothing decreased by 3%, and for footwear by 2.2%, for a total decrease of 2.7%. The cost of rail passenger transport decreased by 2.2%. In addition, poultry meat, pork, sugar, butter, lard, dairy products, and cheeses fell by 0.3–4.1%.

Experts emphasize that, despite price drops in certain categories, the overall trend points to higher prices. Discussions of a possible sharp increase in fuel prices, in particular up to UAH 150 per liter due to the conflict in Iran, are not yet confirmed by official forecasts, said Andriy Gerus, Chairman of the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
