Gasoline may become cheaper again: experts point out the condition

Gasoline in Ukraine has a chance to drop in price to 50–60 hryvnias per liter, but for this to happen, the world price of oil needs to drop to around $60 per barrel. This opinion was expressed by fuel expert Dmitry Lyushkin in a broadcast on Kyiv24. He noted that a drop in prices would only be possible if the market stabilized.

Lyushkin noted that before the recent events in Iran, the world oil market was in surplus, and forecasts indicated a possible decrease in prices. But new geopolitical risks have changed the situation, and restoring fuel prices to pre-crisis levels will require stability in the market. “If the price of oil returns to around $60, prices in Ukraine will also drop, possibly to 50–60 hryvnias,” the expert explained.

At the same time, the situation may worsen due to Iran’s possible blocking of an important oil and gas artery in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the warning of the People’s Deputy Danylo Getmantsev, the reduction of oil production in the Middle East may provoke a real fuel shortage in Ukraine. Market experts predict that the shortage of gasoline and diesel fuel may become a reality as early as April 2026.

Leushkin reminded that it is important to monitor changes in oil prices and developments in the region. Ukrainian consumers should be prepared for the fact that the price reduction will not happen immediately, since the cost of fuel in the domestic market also depends on logistics costs, exchange rates and gas station margins.

The expert emphasized that on the global market, prices do not change instantly at the local level, but the stabilization of the situation on the oil market may contribute to a moderate decrease in the cost of gasoline in the coming months.
