Генерал США в Києві випив літр чачі, отримав струс мозку та залишив секретні карти в поїзді

US general in Kyiv drank a liter of chacha, suffered a concussion and left secret maps on the train

U.S. Army Major General Antonio Aguto, who was on an official visit to Kyiv in May 2024, was involved in a bizarre incident. During his stay in the Ukrainian capital, he consumed excessive amounts of alcohol, which led to serious consequences.

According to a recently published report by the U.S. Department of Defense Inspector General, Aguto drank more than two half-liter bottles of chacha, which exceeds the permissible norms, and this led him to fall in his hotel room, during which he received a concussion. The next morning, despite the injury, the general decided not to cancel a scheduled meeting with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

On the way to the meeting place, Aguto fell a second time, hitting his jaw on the concrete. The investigation found that he was in a condition that did not allow him to perform his duties, not due to intoxication, but due to the effects of the injury. Experts believe that the cause of the falls was excessive alcohol consumption.

Also, during the return from Kyiv, the general left a package with secret maps on the train, which is a serious violation of the rules for handling confidential information. He did not use proper protection of the materials and left them unattended for more than 24 hours.

At the same time, the accusations of violating the curfew were not confirmed, since the general’s security received verbal permission to return after 11:00 p.m. In addition, no negative feedback was found about the general’s leadership style, since the low morale in the unit is explained by other factors – the high pace of work and difficult conditions.

According to the results of the investigation, it was recommended to take disciplinary measures against Aguto and transfer the case materials to the USEUCOM Special Security Directorate.
