Actions in case of loss of a Ukrainian card abroad: recommendations from banks
Ukrainians who are abroad can easily make purchases and withdraw cash using bank cards. However, in case of loss of the card, it is important to take a number of prompt actions.
First of all, if you have lost your card abroad, you should take care of the safety of your funds. It is recommended to use your bank’s mobile application to quickly transfer money to another of your cards.
The next step is the need to block the lost card. This can be done independently via the mobile application or by contacting your bank’s support service.
If necessary, users can quickly issue a virtual card for further financial transactions. It can be connected to electronic wallets such as Google Pay or Apple Pay, so you can continue to use your funds without the need for a physical card.
Some Ukrainian banks, in particular PrivatBank, Monobank and FUIB, offer the opportunity to order a new card with delivery abroad. To do this, you need to indicate your current address in the mobile application.
This information is especially important for those who are abroad for a long time and do not intend to return in the near future.
Additionally, you should be careful to avoid phishing scams. For example, calls from “relatives” asking for help may actually be manipulations by digital fraudsters who use the latest technologies to deceive.
