An incident with an unknown drone was recorded in Lithuania, said Major Gintavtaus Ciunis, spokesman for the Lithuanian Armed Forces
Lithuania has reported an incident involving a drone that entered its airspace and crashed into a frozen lake near the border with Belarus. The military believes it may have come from Belarusian territory.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces have reported the detection of a drone that entered Lithuanian airspace. Preliminary data suggests that the drone crashed into an ice-covered body of water, according to a Reuters report.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces said that debris found at the crash site likely belonged to the drone.
Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT released surveillance footage showing a long noise followed by a powerful explosion, followed by what appears to be burning parts of the drone.
Major Gintavtaus Ciunis, a spokesman for the army, said the drone’s crash site was very close to the Polish border, and it was most likely coming from that direction.
At the same time, the military said no traces of explosives were found at the crash site.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene announced a meeting of the National Security Commission on Tuesday to discuss the situation.
