Reservation criteria may change: workplace will no longer protect against mobilization
In Ukraine, they plan to significantly change the system of reserving men from mobilization. In particular, employees of defense-industrial complex enterprises and other critical infrastructure facilities may receive the right to a deferral.
This information was announced by People’s Deputy Solomiya Bobrovska, who is a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. According to her, the current system does not function as intended and needs to be revised.
Today, the so-called economic reservation dominates, in which enterprise managers have the opportunity to reserve employees at their own discretion, regardless of the degree of importance of their activities for the state.
Bobrovska advocates a change in approach, believing that priority should be given to defense enterprises and critical facilities. At the same time, shopping centers and businesses without strategic importance should not automatically receive the status of critical.
If the new criteria come into force, some of the current reservations may be canceled. This will mean that many men who were previously exempted from mobilization due to their work may be at risk of mobilization.
Parliament is awaiting legislative amendments that will clearly define the categories that will be eligible for reservation and the scope of such a deferral.
Bobrovska reported that representatives of the new Defense Ministry team have already announced these changes, aimed at creating a more transparent and fair system that will meet the real needs of Ukraine’s defense.
