Pension for the elderly will be increased by at least 1,000 hryvnias for “helplessness”
Not all Ukrainian pensioners have the opportunity to receive additional financial assistance from the state. This concerns a monthly supplement of 1038 hryvnias, which is provided for the fulfillment of certain conditions. This information was confirmed by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Citizens who have reached the age of 80 are entitled to such additional assistance, but age is not the only criterion. Several conditions must be met. In particular, a pensioner must live independently and not have able-bodied relatives who are required by law to support him, regardless of where they are – in Ukraine or abroad.
The main condition for receiving the allowance is the need for constant external care, which must be confirmed by a medical opinion from a medical advisory commission. This document certifies that a person with certain health problems cannot take care of himself independently and needs external assistance.
To obtain this opinion, a pensioner or his relatives should contact their family doctor. The doctor will assess the patient’s condition and, if necessary, refer them to the appropriate commission. As a rule, positive decisions are received by people with serious mobility problems, chronic diseases or disabilities.
After receiving a medical opinion, you need to contact the Pension Fund to apply for a supplement. It is important to remember that the payment will be made only if all necessary documents and confirmations are available.
Experts recommend not to delay this process: if there are grounds for receiving assistance, you should consult a doctor and undergo the necessary procedures. Otherwise, these funds may remain “on paper”.
We remind you that the Pension Fund of Ukraine explained the conditions for changing the date of receiving a pension, and also told how to change the method of receiving a pension without leaving home.
