Працюйте або залишайте країну: Данія ввела нові вимоги для українських біженців — кому закриють двері

Work or leave the country: Denmark has introduced new requirements for Ukrainian refugees – who will be turned away?

Denmark’s migration policy remains one of the strictest in Europe. However, the country offers clear and understandable rules for foreigners, including Ukrainians who have received temporary protection. In connection with the expected end of this status in 2027, the issue of legalization becomes particularly relevant.

One of the main conditions for residence in Denmark is the presence of a CPR number, which allows you to engage in work, receive medical services, use the banking system and study. It is important that this number is tied to the correct address of residence, since untimely updating of information can lead to administrative problems.

After the end of temporary protection, Ukrainians can choose between several ways of legalization. One of the options is to obtain a permanent residence permit. This requires a long-term legal status in the country, stable employment, an appropriate level of Danish language proficiency (not lower than Dansk 3) and the absence of financial or legal violations. In some cases, the period of residence may be reduced provided that the level of integration is high.

Another option is to obtain a work permit if the foreigner is employed in a shortage profession. Denmark regularly updates the list of such professions, which includes doctors, IT specialists, teachers and builders. In this case, it is important to meet the requirements of the employer and have a formal employment relationship.

There are also options for obtaining a student visa or legalization through family reunification. However, these paths have their limitations and depend on various factors, such as financial capabilities or the presence of relatives with legal status in Denmark.

In addition, attention should be paid to the increase in income requirements for certain categories of workers. For example, high minimum salary thresholds have been set for highly qualified specialists, which complicates access to relevant programs.

Knowledge of the Danish language remains an important aspect of integration. Proficiency in it is mandatory for obtaining long-term residence permits. The state offers free language courses for newcomers.

Elderly people have the least opportunities for legalization. There are no simplified procedures for them, and to receive social guarantees such as pensions, a long period of residence in the country is required.

It should be recalled that other countries, such as Spain, are also considering simplifying requirements for Ukrainian refugees, and Germany is calling on Ukraine to reduce the flow of refugees, announcing new rules for Ukrainians.
