Не варто чекати завершення всіх конфліктів, – Микола Томенко про оновлення ЄС, НАТО та ООН

There is no need to wait for the end of all conflicts, – Mykola Tomenko on the renewal of the EU, NATO and the UN

Politician Mykola Tomenko expressed his opinion on the latest changes in international politics. In particular, on his channel he noted that after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, two countries have already joined NATO, but recent exercises have shown that this organization is not fulfilling its main functions. He emphasized that Trump’s criticism of NATO is not the main problem, but will consist in the need to reboot the institution based on the Ukrainian experience, perhaps even under a new name and without the United States.

Tomenko argues that the European Union also needs changes, because in modern conditions it can become an inactive organization. He emphasizes that for decision-making it is necessary to abandon the principle of absolute consensus and replace it with a qualified majority or even the principle of “consensus-1” in order to avoid situations where one uncontrolled leader can interfere with the adoption of important decisions.

The politician also pointed out the need for reforms in the United Nations, in particular, in the Security Council, which should include new countries such as Japan, Germany, India and a representative of Latin America. He recalled that Russia should not be part of this system, and voting should be carried out on the basis of a qualified majority or consensus-1.

Tomenko shared his vision of the future of international relations, emphasizing that we should not wait for the end of wars to discuss the reset of world institutions. It is important to pay attention to these problems in a timely manner and conduct a dialogue on the necessary changes.
