School shooting in Transcarpathia: police classify incident as terrorist act
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the shooting that occurred in an educational institution in Transcarpathia. According to preliminary data, the teenager who opened fire was following the instructions of unknown persons whom he met through an online game and communicated with via messenger.
According to police information, the shooter could be under psychological pressure from these persons. The interaction with them took place through one of the messengers, and the acquaintance, as it turns out, occurred during an online game.
The minor noted that he received threats: if he refused to comply with the demands, he was promised to harm his loved ones.
It was established that the weapon used during the incident was a stun gun modified for firing live ammunition.
Investigative actions are currently underway, and law enforcement officers are finding out all the details of the incident, as well as the persons who may be involved in its organization. The communication channels through which the teenager was influenced are being checked separately.
The event has been classified as a terrorist act under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the control of the Uzhhorod District Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred today at around 09:30 in one of the educational institutions of the Uzhhorod district, when a 9th grade student threatened other participants in the educational process using a weapon. According to preliminary information, during the lesson, the minor took out a pistol and fired two shots.
