Saving on electricity consumption: useful tips from DTEK

Managing electricity costs for Ukrainians can be much more effective when using a two-zone “day-night” meter. This device allows you to separately account for electricity consumption during the day and at night.

During nighttime, from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., the cost of electricity is only half of the daytime cost, so by maximizing the use of electrical appliances at this time, you can significantly reduce your bills, DTEK informs.

To date, the government has decided to keep the cost of electricity for the population at 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh until April 30, 2026. Accordingly, no price increase is expected in the spring, and payments for April will remain unchanged. In addition, special benefits are provided for some consumers, for example, households with electric heating have the opportunity to pay at a reduced rate of 2.64 UAH per 1 kWh if they consume up to 2,000 kWh per month; if this limit is exceeded, the standard rate applies.

To save money, you should pay attention to a two-zone “day-night” meter, as it allows you to keep track of electricity consumption during the day and at night separately. A night tariff with a 50% discount can provide savings of up to 648 UAH per month if appliances such as a refrigerator, router or boiler work non-stop. Installing such a meter usually pays off in about 15 months, and in some cases even faster.

If you adapt your daily routine, the average savings can reach 324 UAH per month, and the installation costs can be repaid in less than a year. To do this, you need to:

charge mobile devices at night;
prepare breakfast by 6:45 am;
use the boiler after 23:00 or early in the morning;
use a washing machine or dishwasher with a delayed start.
These simple steps not only help reduce costs, but also help regulate the load on the electricity network.

By ordering the installation of a “day-night” meter from DTEK, consumers can receive a comprehensive service that includes dismantling the old device, installing a new one, sealing, and setting the appropriate tariff.

We will remind you that it was previously reported that a fine could be imposed for installing such a meter and new rules for checking meters, which involve visiting apartments.

New terms for money transfers were also announced, which PrivatBank warned its customers about.
