A $20,000 scheme was discovered in Kyiv: the suspects offered to “negotiate” the man’s release from the TCC

At the initiative of the Shevchenkiv District Prosecutor’s Office of Kyiv, two residents of the capital were charged with organizing an illegal “resolution of issues” scheme regarding the husband’s stay in the TCC and JV for money.

The investigation established that one of the residents of Kyiv was stopped on the street by employees of the territorial procurement center and the police. He, along with other persons, was taken to the TCC for a medical examination. This information is provided by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

During his stay at the center, the man met another visitor who started asking him about his personal life and family. During the conversation, he found out the contact number of the detainee’s common-law wife.

Shortly after that, the woman received a call from a stranger who claimed to have information about her partner and offered to help him “fire” from TCC and JV. A sum of 20,000 US dollars was quoted for this service, with the condition of urgent money transfer, otherwise the man will allegedly be sent to a military unit.

Five hours later, under the control of law enforcement officers, the common-law wife transferred the specified amount to the two suspects.

Immediately after receiving the money, the suspects were detained – a 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man.

Their actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of influence, committed by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy.

The court has already chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention, with the possibility of bail in the amount of almost 1 million hryvnias for each of the suspects.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Shevchenkiv Police Department of Kyiv under the operational support of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine.
