Fine of over UAH 933 million: PlayCity fined gambling operator
PlayCity has revoked the license of the Limited Liability Company “Favbet Game Slots” to organize slot machines. This decision was made as a result of a scheduled inspection, during which violations of the requirements of the law were revealed.
The message states that “Favbet Game Slots” loses the right to conduct business in Ukraine due to the cancellation of the license for organizing gambling in halls with slot machines.
In addition, the company was imposed financial sanctions in the amount of more than 933 million hryvnias, which is one of the largest fines in the gambling business in Ukraine. Violations were detected during an inspection of the equipment in the halls, in particular 108 slot machines that were operating without a confirmed inspection, which is a mandatory requirement.
The regulator emphasizes that monitoring the technical condition of the equipment is an important aspect, as it affects market transparency and the protection of the interests of players. After this decision, the company must completely stop operating its halls on Ukrainian territory.
Experts believe that such actions indicate increased control over compliance with the rules in the gambling industry. The state seeks to respond more strictly to violations, especially by large operators.
It is currently unknown whether the company will appeal this decision, since such legal processes can drag on for a long time. The final conclusions will depend on further steps by the parties.
The legal gambling market in Ukraine, which provides the budget with billions in revenue, still faces risks. Despite the existence of an official regulator, several companies continue to operate in the shadows or violate tax obligations.
