The Holy Fire arrived in Ukraine through the Ustyluh checkpoint

The Holy Fire arrived in Ukraine on Easter night and was delivered through the international checkpoint “Ustylug” in Volyn. The Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service reported that the first to meet the shrine were border guards of the Volyn detachment.

The Holy Fire traditionally descends in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem on the eve of Easter. This year, it was transported from Warsaw, and a representative of the Volyn Eparchy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine handed over the fire at the border. Border guards ensured the quick and safe passage of the shrine across the state border.

After that, the fire set off for Kyiv, from where it will be delivered to churches, monasteries, and parishes throughout the country. Many churches are already preparing for the Holy Fire meeting so that everyone who wishes can light candles from it and bring warmth to their homes.

The State Border Guard Service expressed the hope that this fire would become a symbol of faith and strength for every Ukrainian, whether at home, at the front, under occupation, or abroad.

In the fourth year of a full-scale war, Ukrainians are gradually rethinking their religious self-awareness and new formats for celebrating spiritual events.
