Reko Hirosue, star of the film “Wasabi,” arrested for fighting with a nurse during a test of receptions
Japanese actress Reko Hirosue, known for the films “Wasabi” and “The Departed,” has been arrested after an incident at a medical facility. After a car accident, the star lost control and attacked a paramedic, Japan Today reports.
Accident and unexpected outburst of aggression
The incident occurred on the evening of April 7 in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture. 44-year-old Reko Hirosue was driving a car when she collided with a truck on the Shin-Tomei Expressway. A man, believed to be her manager, was in the passenger seat. The actress suffered minor injuries, but the truck driver was not injured.
After the accident, Hirosue was taken to the hospital, where, according to police, she reacted inappropriately — she started arguing loudly with a nurse, hit her several times, and even scratched her hand.
Apology and comments from the actress
The actress’s official page published a text stating that she panicked after the accident. She regretted her actions and announced a temporary suspension of her career.
The police have not yet clarified whether Hirosue admitted her guilt. According to sources, during the interrogation, she seemed very nervous, raised her voice, and could not calm down, but alcohol was not detected in her blood.
Who is Reko Hirosue
Reko Hirosue is one of the most famous actresses in Japan. She gained international fame after her role in the film “Wasabi” (directed by Gerard Krawczyk, script by Luc Besson), in which she starred with Jean Reno.
Another notable achievement in her career was her role in the drama “The Departed,” which won the Oscar for best foreign film in 2008.
A criminal case has been initiated against Hirosue. She could face a fine or even criminal liability for causing bodily harm. Fear and panic are no excuse for aggression, especially for a public figure with many fans.
This situation has already caused a loud resonance in Japan, and while the actress is withdrawing from public life, society is closely monitoring the development of the case.
