Which MP is keeping hundreds of millions in cryptocurrencies during the war?
In our country, where an active war is ongoing, some elected officials are finding the opportunity and means to increase their cryptocurrency assets. According to information published on Telegram by analysts from BlackBox OSINT, representatives of the “Servant of the People” faction have the most digital money. Their financial declarations reflect hundreds of millions of hryvnias in cryptocurrency. For example, Oleg Bondarenko declared crypto assets worth 253.9 million hryvnias, and his colleagues in the faction also have significant amounts.
In comparison, the “European Solidarity” faction reports 24.6 million hryvnias in cryptocurrency, most of which belong to Dmitry Golubov, who has been known as a crypto billionaire since 2017.
Other political forces demonstrate more modest results. Thus, the Holos faction has only 641 thousand hryvnias in crypto, Dovira – 476 thousand, Batkivshchyna – 157 thousand, Vindnovlenie Ukrainy – 155 thousand, and non-factional deputies – 151 thousand hryvnias.
Deputies invest in popular cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, and Tether, and some even hold Dogecoin and Pepe. This, of course, raises questions, especially in the context of the army’s constant needs, budget deficit, and support for displaced persons. Since cryptocurrency in Ukraine is not always subject to careful monitoring, it is difficult to verify the sources of funds.
Many deputies do not comment on their cryptocurrency savings, but some continue to increase them despite the country’s difficult conditions. It was also recently reported that some representatives of law enforcement agencies and judges in Ukraine have significant amounts in cryptocurrency, which helps them cope with the consequences of the war.
