Controversial Trips of Ukrainian MP: ‘StopCor’ Investigates the Details

Journalists from StopCor are probing the reasons behind Ukrainian MP Borys Prykhodko’s foreign trips, as a member of the “Dovira” parliamentary group. The Verkhovna Rada has withheld information, raising questions about the transparency of these expenses.

According to the outlet, Prykhodko — who previously held a position at the National Bank of Ukraine during Yanukovych’s era and is implicated in a criminal case involving the disappearance of 2 billion hryvnias from the Agrarian Fund — is believed to have traveled abroad on official business trips. However, details regarding the funding, purpose, and justification of these trips remain undisclosed.

As part of their investigation, StopCor sent two official requests to the Verkhovna Rada’s Apparatus, seeking crucial information about these trips.

In the request, journalists asked for the following details:

Whether Borys Prykhodko is currently abroad on official assignment and whether he had such an assignment on December 10, 2024.
The purpose and duration of Prykhodko’s official business trip.
The country to which Prykhodko traveled on assignment.
The number of Prykhodko’s official foreign trips since 2022, including destinations, purposes, and the amounts allocated for each.
The sums reimbursed for daily expenses, hotel accommodations, and other financial costs incurred during these trips.

However, journalists have not received responses within the legally established timeframe. StopCor reporters also noted that their calls to the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus are being ignored, suggesting that the parliament may be deliberately withholding this information.

In response, the StopCor editorial team has appealed to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, emphasizing the need for transparency. The prolonged lack of response may indicate a broader disregard for journalistic inquiries.

In another incident from April 2023, a newly purchased Toyota Scion — driven by the MP’s son, Danyil Prykhodko, and businessman Oleksiy Bahriy — crossed the border marked as “volunteers.” However, only Danyil reportedly returned.

Borys Prykhodko has also been actively attempting to pressure StopCor through lawsuits, though proceedings are slow due to his repeated absence from court hearings.
