Katy Perry Responds to Criticism After Space Flight, Album Failure, and “Lifetime” Tour Launch
Katy Perry has publicly addressed the wave of criticism following her space flight with Blue Origin, the commercial setbacks of her album “143,” and the launch of her “Lifetime” tour.
In a comment on a fan account post, the singer admitted to feeling “emotionally drained,” but remained hopeful: “I am still walking toward the light.”
On April 14, Perry took part in an 8-minute spaceflight with Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez as part of a mission supporting women in aeronautics, organized by Jeff Bezos. However, this initiative was mocked even by other celebrities. Meanwhile, her album failed to replicate the success of her previous releases, and her concert tour received severe criticism, with some calling it “the cringiest ever.”
In response to a fan post, where they had put up a billboard in her support, the singer thanked them for the kind words and mentioned that online negativity greatly affects her mood. She wrote: “We walk this path together. I stay true to myself because of our connection. Thank you for being with me.”
Perry also shared advice from her therapist: “No one can make you believe in yourself if you don’t believe in it yourself. When the internet tries to make me a target for criticism, I maintain my dignity and respond with love. I understand that many people have their own traumas, and social media often becomes a platform for negativity.”
She emphasized that she maintains contact with fans during her concerts, where she is able to see their true faces and hear them sing:
“I know that we heal each other, even just a little,” she added.
Katy pointed out that she is not an ideal and no longer tries to be one.
“I play the game called ‘Life’ in front of a large audience. Sometimes I fall, but I always get up and keep moving forward. My light guides me through all the difficulties and adventures. And every time, a new level appears,” she concluded.
