Deadly shooting in Sofiivska Borshchagovka: two victims, shooter detained

On Thursday, May 8, a horrific murder took place in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka, in the Buchansky district of the Kyiv region, resulting in the deaths of a man and his mother-in-law.

According to information from the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Kyiv region, the shooting was reported at 15:22. Preliminary data indicate that the shooter is not a military serviceman, but was using an automatic weapon that he purchased a month ago from an army man for 1,000 US dollars.

After the investigation, it became known that a conflict arose between the shooter and the seller of the weapon due to non-payment of an additional amount. The seller demanded a refund, but during the conflict, the shooter successfully took the machine gun and opened fire on the man and his relative.

After committing the crime, the suspect barricaded himself in his house, but later surrendered to law enforcement without resistance.

Emergency services are working at the scene, conducting a special operation to collect evidence and interrogate possible witnesses. The weapon was seized, and issues related to its acquisition and possible violations during its transfer will be the subject of a separate investigation.
