Mykola Tyshchenko’s ex-wife Alla Baranovskaya is taking all measures to save the seized funds

Alla Baranovskaya, the former wife of People’s Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko, lost her case in court over the seizure of significant amounts of cash during the investigation. The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court decided to leave these funds under arrest.

Details of the seizure of cash in the Tyshchenko case

In early November 2024, investigators conducted searches in the apartments of Mykola Tyshchenko and Alla Baranovskaya, during which they seized significant amounts of cash:

From the People’s Deputy’s apartment – $171.5 thousand and 150 thousand euros.
From Baranovskaya’s home – $320 thousand, 240 thousand euros, and a Swiss Audemars Piguet watch.
These funds were confiscated as part of the case of the beating of a military man in Dnipro, where Tyshchenko is a defendant. The seizure of funds was later imposed in connection with another investigation into possible illegal enrichment and false income declaration.

Why Baranovskaya tried to cancel the arrest

Baranovskaya’s lawyer claimed that the seized money, $269.2 thousand and 202 thousand euros, belongs to her and her father and has a documented origin. According to him, these funds were earned through entrepreneurial activity and property sales.

However, NABU detectives noted that:

Until 2019, when Tyshchenko began his political career, Baranovskaya’s income was very low – only 304 thousand hryvnias in six years.
After Tyshchenko entered politics, Baranovskaya’s financial situation improved dramatically. She became an individual entrepreneur and began declaring millions of hryvnias of income.

The court also noted that after the divorce, Tyshchenko declared receiving 12.6 million hryvnias as a gift from Baranovskaya.

The court’s grounds for maintaining the arrest

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court left the money under arrest for several reasons:

The pre-trial investigation into possible illicit enrichment is ongoing.
The arrested funds are considered material evidence in the case.
The court noted that Tyshchenko also filed a motion to return the money, but the amounts he claims exceed those seized.
The arrest of the cash did not significantly harm Baranovskaya’s financial situation, as she has a stable business and income.

In 2023, Alla Baranovskaya declared 8.8 million hryvnias of income and kept 13.3 million hryvnias and $290 thousand in cash.
In 2024, Mykola Tyshchenko officially received 425.9 thousand hryvnias in salary and 12.6 million hryvnias as a gift. He declared $211,000, €150,000, and 550,000 hryvnias in cash.
While the investigation is ongoing, millions of dollars and euros related to Tyshchenko’s family remain under arrest. The court notes that a final decision regarding these funds will be made only after the investigation.
