Social benefits under threat: important tips to avoid being left without support

Official institutions are obliged to accept applications from persons applying for social assistance.

According to Article 42 of the Law of Ukraine “On Administrative Procedure”, such applications must be registered on the day of receipt. This rule is described in the article of the legal manual for internally displaced persons.

There is a difference between refusing to accept and consider an application. The first is prohibited, while the second is possible under certain conditions:

The application is submitted anonymously, which means it is impossible to identify the applicant.

The application is submitted again without changes.

The application concerns an issue already being considered in court or for which there is already a court decision without new grounds.

The application does not contain precise requirements or is written with profanity.

In addition, officials do not have the right to demand documents not included in the legislation. Article 41 of the law emphasizes this —demanding additional information that is not provided for by law is unacceptable.

State employees must assist citizens in filling out applications, providing access to free forms, and offering consultations. Citizens with legal issues have the right to receive free legal assistance in accordance with the law.

Recall that the government simplified the procedure for obtaining pensions to make life easier for Ukrainians under challenging conditions. Despite Russia’s aggression since 2014 and the difficulties the country is facing, the Ukrainian authorities continue to work to provide citizens with critical social guarantees, even in wartime.

Earlier, it was reported about the decision according to which displaced persons can receive state housing and the right to subsidies, although many of them do not apply for this assistance.
