Shakhtar won the Ukrainian Football Cup, defeating Dynamo Kyiv

FC Shakhtar won the 2024/2025 Ukrainian Cup, defeating Dynamo Kyiv in the final. The match was held at the Polissya Central Stadium in Zhytomyr.

The regular time of the match ended in a 1:1 draw, and the winner was determined by a tense penalty shootout, in which the Miners emerged stronger, 5:4.

Match progress: goals and extra time without a result

The game started cautiously, but in the 44th minute, Dynamo took the lead thanks to a precise shot by Andriy Yarmolenko, who completed his team’s combination at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Shakhtar became more active, and in the 64th minute, Brazilian Kawan Elias equalized, returning intrigue to the match. Regular time ended 1:1.

Extra time did not bring any changes – both teams were looking for opportunities to score, but the defenses acted confidently and did not allow their opponents to repeat the success.

Penalty: Shakhtar triumph

Shakhtar won the cup series on penalties thanks to the accuracy of their shots. The total score was 5:4.

This victory was Shakhtar’s 15th in the Ukrainian Cup in the history of Ukraine’s independence, consolidating their position as the most titled team in this tournament. Dynamo remained with 13 trophies.
