A mural with an Azov fighter was created in the Moscow region by May 9

On the eve of the May 9 celebration in Russia, a funny situation happened. In Dzerzhinsky, located in the Moscow region, the local authorities decided to commission a large mural in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II.

1.6 million rubles were allocated to create a patriotic image. The artists were instructed to depict a “hero of his time” who would symbolize a modern Russian soldier. However, the result was unexpected—the figure of a fighter appearing on the wall actually advertises the contract service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular the Azov brigade.

Residents quickly noticed this mistake, and photos of the mural instantly spread online. When the authorities learned about the scandal, they urgently began to paint over the image, and eyewitnesses joke that the process took place “at the speed of light.”

Recently, mural projects dedicated to “heroes of their time” have been actively implemented in the Russian Federation. Still, due to haste and unprofessionalism, such initiatives often become the subject of ridicule.

Currently, the local administration is not commenting on who exactly made the mistake and whether an investigation will be conducted into the use of budget funds.
