Selective deportation of Ukrainians from the UK: what violations can lead to expulsion from the country

In 2025, the UK plans to introduce stricter rules for foreigners. According to Channel 24, Ukrainians risk losing their legal status and could be deported for several different violations. These include overstaying their visa, providing false information, working without authorization, or residing at an incorrect address. Deportation can occur even for minor offenses without a criminal record.

This situation is especially true for Ukrainians who arrived in the country under the “Homes for Ukraine” program. Many of them may face problems when extending their visas, as applications are only accepted 28 days before the expiration date. This often becomes a serious obstacle.

Another risk is associated with possible violations of immigration law, such as using false documents or false information in applications. The new rules also provide for the automatic deportation of those who arrive illegally, do not meet the financial criteria, or receive social benefits.

While the UK continues to support Ukrainians, compliance with the rules is mandatory. Only legal residence, timely renewal of documents, and honest behavior can protect against being forced to return to one’s homeland.
